PERUVIAN CHANCELLERY AND USIL SIGN AGREEMENT TO PROMOTE THE PERUVIAN GASTRONOMY IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES

(February the 1st 2019, Lima – Peru) San Ignacio de Loyola University (USIL), and the Foreign Relations Ministry from Peru sign today an institutional cooperation agreement to promote worldwide the Peruvian gastronomy and Tourism.

This agreement stablishes the development of combined activities that promote the fame, and broadcasting of our rich, and diverse gastronomical stock, known as one of the most important around the world.

The founder of USIL, Raul Diez Canseco Terry remarked that “the gastronomy is one of the most successful attractions that our country can show internationally”. There are around 5 thousand Peruvian food restaurants registered in our embassies and consulates”

On the other hand, the Peruvian chancellor, Nestor Popolizio, highlighted the role that the Peruvian gastronomy fulfils as a reference of our agro-biological and cultural diversity. He donated, “this is a great opportunity to increase the production of Peruvian cuisine´s national ingredients, which in a long term will also work as a benefit for our local farmers”.

San Ignacio de Loyola University has a great experience in the gastronomical field that goes back to 1998, year of inauguration of USIL´S Chefs School. Since 2004, USIL has a strategic alliance with Institut Paul Bocuse, a worldwide prestigious gastronomical school.

Through the agreement signed with the Peruvian chancellery, USIL will boost the “Authentic Peruvian Cuisine” program, to certify the culinary techniques, ingredients, preparation and presentation of the most representative dishes from Peruvian gastronomy that these foreign Peruvian restaurants offer around the world.

This certification´s objective is to preserve the value of the Peruvian gastronomy and to promote the consumption of its ingredients in foreign countries, in order to guarantee to the consumers a “true experience” of Peruvian food.

So far 30 peruvian food restaurants have been certified in Russia, USA, Chile, Spain, Portugal, Costa Rica, Panama and Ecuador.

This agreement was signed by the Peruvian chancellor, ambassador Nestor Popolizio and by the founder president of USIL, Raul Diez Canseco Terry. Also were present during this event the famous Peruvian gastronomy researcher, Bernardo Roca Rey, chef Adolfo Perret, Daniel Manrique, general manager of a very famous Peruvian sea food restaurant franchise, and important people from the diplomatic and gastronomical world.
